if life gives you lemons.... LEMONADE The Movie

I think lots of people have heard this old metaphor "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!".  In this real world reality of recessions, layoffs, cutoffs and failed economies, people are really pushed to life's edge and can really connect to this documentary.  The blogpost and the actual website states movie but I say its more of a documentary and inspirational film.

The premise of this indie film is based on several individuals who have worked in various industries but for some divine reason were the chosen staff that received pink slips from their previous 9 to 5 careers.  I say this intervention was divine because it forced them to their own reality of their situations.  We all share similar problems and situations as well as passions.  The individuals in LEMONADE were thrown into the real life metaphor, delivered from the Matrix and discovered a new beginning, they were forced to discover, recognize and exercise their passions.

I'm at this crossroads myself and am discovering, recognizing and exercising my passions.  I have lots of passion and its going to take time to focus for planning and executing.  Now I have time to do so but also in this reality dimension the legend of the rent is waaay hardcore. LOL.  I have to balance and breathe.  I believe therefore I am, so to me itsallgood gimmesomedaps.  When life gives you lemons, you can do whatever you want with them: make lemonade, make lemon meringue pie, give them away, or throw them but ultimately it is up to you.  You have to believe in yourself. YEE!

ASTRONOTE: The Raw Tape

Live and direct from Asideworldwide hot off the gmail attachment a new jumpoff from French producer and Asidwworldwide affiliate Astronote.  I haven't gotten a chance to listen yet, but this dood right here has slappers and I know he won't fail me.  Peep the write up that came with the digital link I got from Asideworldwide's PR pro the beautiful Ms. Stephanie Estes.

Notes about The Raw Tape:
On the heels of his recent full length release “Weapon of the Future”, Astronote presents The Raw Tape.  Although most of Astronote’s current production is loaded with live instrumentation, for The Raw Tape he used an analog sampler to revisit a much more raw and gritty sampled sound.  The result is an epic 21 track soundscape that delivers even more proof of why he’s considered one of the best new producers in the game.

Michael Jackson is in All of US.

Today's date June 25th 2011 marks the 2 year anniversary of Michael Jackson's passing.  He already transcended barriers with his music and his voice, but his passing makes him transcend this reality dimension.  He is in the universe and we are breathing him along with everyone else who has passed, my grandfather, grandmother, MLK, my friend's friends, brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers and Jesus Christ included.  If we realize that we can be stronger to know that they are with us.  Bigups to djscratch for providing this MJ tribute today hot off the digital press.

74th Annual Stern Grove SF Summer Series Festi

I've been on the road riding, but I had to make sure I got back home to SF and not miss the opening day of the Stern Grove Festival.  I've see some great shows during opening days.  One memorable show was with Queen Roberta Flack.  She rocks so hard!  She's a PRO.

This years 74th annual festival jumped off with headliner Sharon Jones and the Dap King.  Ben L'oncle Soul from France set off the vibe right with his neo/throwback/soul style band, complete with backup dancers that got people off their feet.  I could definitely see him rocking shows with Raphael Saadiq and Mayer Hawthrone.

So if you some how find yourself in SF California on any random Sunday this summer you might want to check-in to this FREE All ages summer concert series.  Runs June 19th through to August 21st.  For more info visit http://www.sterngrove.org/

The Future Becoming Present

Practice this >>>>> Here's an snippet from novelist Paulo Coelho's A Warrior of the Light: A Manual, which he posted on his website: http://paulocoelhoblog.com

From now on – and for some centuries to come – the Universe will help the warriors of the light, and boycott all those who are full of prejudices about people who dare to follow their dreams.

The energy of the Earth needs renovating.

New ideas need space.

The body and the soul need new challenges.

The future becomes present and all the dreams – except those that involve prejudices – will enjoy the chance to manifest themselves.

Whatever is important will remain; whatever is useless will disappear.

For that reason, when lots of people gather to give their opinion on how we should act or behave, we must ignore them, as our life on Earth leaves us no time for explaining everything we do.

And we must also avoid commenting on the behavior of others: in order to have faith in our own path, we have no need to prove that the path of the other is wrong.

Those who act like this have no trust in their own steps.

We All Matter

Listen to these lyrics, it transcends.  I've been on this "All Matter" for quite some time, for me it tapped into a frequency realizing we are all interconnected supreme beings we just have to realize that and life will get beautiful.  Thank You Robert Glasper Trio & Bilal.

Just Coolout and Listen-In

I made this mix around 2004ish.  Right before Serato really took off.  Actually I think some Stanton version called Final Scratch if I remember correctly was out at the time too but all this analog to digital midi conversion jumbo was still working out their kinks with the software/hardware.

At the time I was still heavily working with vinyl.  For recording purposes I used cooledit pro which I was blessed to have a copy from my boy djpsol, who was always on a mixtape recording grind, which he still is to this day.  I think he still rocks cooledit too.  Its tried and true, it has all the most basic functions, but most of all I'm comfortable with navigating in and around it.

Anyways one day I decided to make a mixtape with a no holds barred mentality, using vinyl and any other format of music to complete a mix.  At the time MP3's and file sharing was already the norm so I amassed a heafty amount of choones on MP3 file format.  Easily enough I knocked this mix out in one evening cutting, pasting, looping, filtering & time stretching.  I skipped out on a nite of kicking it with a crew of girls to finish this mix because I was so into it and it was So Simple, hence the name of this mix, So Simple: The Coolout mpEZ edition.

The funny thing is this mix wasn't even fully complete, I made this mix with some blank spots for me to drop some heavy kutting on.  I eventually worked with what I had and incorporated this mix with a live performance, a listening party for my mix, while I performed live kuts over the blank spots of the mix.  It worked out well.  Can you tell where they blank spots are?  hahah   Anyways, enjoy the link and spread love.  Yee!
