Just Coolout and Listen-In

I made this mix around 2004ish.  Right before Serato really took off.  Actually I think some Stanton version called Final Scratch if I remember correctly was out at the time too but all this analog to digital midi conversion jumbo was still working out their kinks with the software/hardware.

At the time I was still heavily working with vinyl.  For recording purposes I used cooledit pro which I was blessed to have a copy from my boy djpsol, who was always on a mixtape recording grind, which he still is to this day.  I think he still rocks cooledit too.  Its tried and true, it has all the most basic functions, but most of all I'm comfortable with navigating in and around it.

Anyways one day I decided to make a mixtape with a no holds barred mentality, using vinyl and any other format of music to complete a mix.  At the time MP3's and file sharing was already the norm so I amassed a heafty amount of choones on MP3 file format.  Easily enough I knocked this mix out in one evening cutting, pasting, looping, filtering & time stretching.  I skipped out on a nite of kicking it with a crew of girls to finish this mix because I was so into it and it was So Simple, hence the name of this mix, So Simple: The Coolout mpEZ edition.

The funny thing is this mix wasn't even fully complete, I made this mix with some blank spots for me to drop some heavy kutting on.  I eventually worked with what I had and incorporated this mix with a live performance, a listening party for my mix, while I performed live kuts over the blank spots of the mix.  It worked out well.  Can you tell where they blank spots are?  hahah   Anyways, enjoy the link and spread love.  Yee!
